expert-in-community
Your knowledge for good.

Equity is achieved through equal access. historically-excluded business owners lack proximity to expertise. YOU can be their access to answers & expertise.

In every community, there are talented entrepreneurs with limited access to the people and resources they need to grow themselves and their businesses. NuProject exists to change that. Expert-in Community is NuProject’s mentor network: professionals who volunteer their time to answer questions or advise on next steps for our founders’ most pressing issues. NuProject’s Expert-in Community connects historically-excluded business owners with professionals who can help them solve real challenges in real-time.

What to Expect as an Expert-in-Community

If you want to use your experience for good, this program is for you. You just need to show up with a willingness to be direct and a sensitivity to the unique challenges historically-excluded entrepreneurs face. Modern mentoring looks like authentic relationships tied together with respect, goodwill, and, maybe, even fun. A great mentor is a friend with answers.

Program Structure: 1:1 or Group

The structure of your mentoring will likely be one-hour sessions with one founder or co-founder team. The pairings are thoughtful and curated to the founders’ needs in real-time. If your skillset allows, you may help entrepreneurs tackle a specific tool or process opportunity in your area of expertise. Or, you may give leadership advice or suggestions on next steps where a founder doesn’t have the prior experience in the topic at hand.

In addition to 1:1 mentoring, we host group learning sessions once a month with our community. We may ask you to join group-based conversations and share your expertise with our wider community for greater breadth of impact.

Time commitment

1–2 hours per month (maximum)
You’ll be paired with a NuProject community member for one hour virtual meeting, no more than twice a month. You’ll be notified by NuProject prior to a pairing allowing you to decide if the pairing is a good fit for you and what timing is best for you to meet. You’ll be invited to join group sessions with plenty of time to prepare for to share your knowledge.

Mentorship style

It’s important to maintain spaces that are safe, supportive, and rooted in mutual respect. Our community is a space where entrepreneurs feel cared for and never like less than an equal. Our experts-in-community will receive onboarding training on NuProject’s mentorship approach and best practices.

Your Expertise for Good. Sometimes all it takes is one conversation with the right person to unlock momentum.
