General Summary:

Manages, directs, and coordinates activities of the Growing Media department for soils, potting mixes, and mulch at Orrville, Ohio. This position provides leadership in the areas of safety, budgetary, regulatory, and process improvements. This job also includes the career and leadership development of direct report associates.

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan, direct, and oversee the production areas in the GM department.

· Direction, management, and development of staff.

· Work to establish departmental budgets and manage expenses throughout the

· Support continuous improvement projects leading to more efficient production.

· Maintain production schedules.

· Work with other departments to maintain production levels. (i.e. DC)

· Maintain lines of communication with associates through effective use of monthly department and shift meetings to support facility goals.

· Coordinates the functions of the maintenance department for the first department.

Job Requirements:

Education:

· High School Diploma with 7 – 10 years in a Manufacturing environment with areas of progressive responsibility. College degree preferred and will count for some experience.

Experience:

· Five to seven years of experience in a manufacturing environment with progressive responsibility with at least 2 years in the direct supervision of others.

Knowledge & Skills

· Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, planning/scheduling, process, and product development, financial controls, safety, and environmental regulations, continuous improvement, and management skills.

· Must be self-motivated and have excellent leadership skills.
