We are looking for an Area Sales Manager who will join our Hawthorne team in the Northeast Region.

Hybrid sales representative with retail and commercial responsibilities in a single geographic region. Expected to regularly be on site with both growers and retailers. They are the primary face to the customer.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Retail: 

    • Bi-Monthly Business Reviews - Review customer’s mix of sales. Identify gaps in their purchasing and what opportunities exist to grow the business for both the customer and Hawthorne

    • Business Development - Uncover opportunities that exist for the business that are in line with our enterprise strategic plans to maximize profitable sales growth in your region

    • Assortment Planning - Work with customers to grow our portfolio in their store, while educating them on the products, so they can be successful

    • Store Events - Set up vendor days at the customer’s store. Educate their customers on Hawthorne products and our services

    • Provide technical information, conduct training sessions with store staff members and provide exceptional service and support

    • Negotiations 

    • Entertainment

  • Commercial: 

    • Quarterly Visits - Visit licensed cultivators to create mutually beneficial sales to drive incremental shipments, and market share thru Hawthorne 360  

    • Business Development - Work with cultivators to optimize cultivation recommendations, inventory parameters and promotional strategies based on Regional trends and competitive threats

    • Project Management - Work closely with our Category, Customer Service and Tech Service Teams to white glove the service from start to finish. 

    • Product Conversion - Identify where opportunities exist, during site visits. If they are using competitive products, educate them on Hawthorne products and convert the sale

    • Custom Programs

    • Negotiations

    • Innovation - Uncover needs in the market and present solutions for those needs to our category team

  • In market: Prospecting for new opportunities

  • Sales forecasting and demand planning with cross functional teams

  • Understand the customer needs

  • Customer Relationship Management

  • Provides direction to Outside Sales Representative to execute plans and actions 

  • Know your market, know the landscape and how we gain market share

  • Work cross functionally with other departments to improve the sales process for the customer

  • Preparation, Execution and Follow Up all documented in Salesforce 

  • Maximize sales and growth to meet company set goals 

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • 10 years of sales / account management experience

  • 5 years of cultivation or industry experience required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred

  • Previous supervisory or management experience

  • Experience building strong internal and external partnerships with key decision makers

  • Outstanding communication and time management skills

  • Strong computer skills required, including Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs, Excel and Salesforce or equivalent
